A detailed account of the social history of the areas of Craigie and Cherrybank in the city of Perth with over 200 illustrations. Donald Paton grew up in and still has a home in Craigie. Educated at Craigie School and Perth High School, most of his working life was spent in the world of advertising with the Dundee publishing company of  D C Thomson & Co. Ltd. An enthusiast of the social history, traditions and culture of Scotland, he is a founder member and an honorary president of The Perth Burns Club. During a period of thirty five years when he served as the club`s secretary, he was the instigator of events such as Perth's Day of Scottish Culture and the annual Schools Festival. He is the author of two earlier books on Perth. His first, Twixt Castle and Mart published in 2005, was a history of Needless Road followed in 2014 by the anthology Perth: As Others Saw Us. In 2015 he was the recipient of the prestigious D K Thomson Award for his services to cultural activities within Perth and Kinross. A Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries of Scotland, he currently divides his time between Perth and West Vancouver in Canada.
